2013 Metabolomics Workshop

2013 Workshop
Jun 25 2013 (All day) to Jun 26 2013 (All day)

Cure Room (5050 Brehm Tower), 1000 Wall Street, Ann Arbor

2013 Metabolomics Summer Workshop

The workshop will help participants develop a basic understanding of the following topics:

The technology involved in the separation and quantification of metabolites.
The techniques used for specific approaches, i.e., targeted, untargeted, lipids, fluxomics.
Considerations for sample collection, preparation, and study design.
Statistical and Bioinformatics analysis, including pathway analysis, data integration, visualization, and software demonstrations.

An overall goal of the workshop is to provide the knowledge necessary to integrate metabolomics into individual research. The workshop aims to help participants recognize various choices and considerations that such research involves and to provide them with resources and a network of appropriate specialists for getting help and answers.

The Michigan Regional Comprehensive Metabolomics Resource Core (MRC2) is a fully integrated program that provides researchers nation-wide with the expertise and infrastructure to determine the levels of known and unknown metabolites in cells, tissues and biological fluids. In addition, the MRC2 provides opportunities for training in the technology of metabolomic analysis, statistical analysis and bioinformatic evaluation of metabolite data as well as approaches to incorporation of metabolomics into basic, preclinical, translational and clinical research.
