Come on BAIBA light my fire: Mining the Blood for New Cardiometabolic Hormones

Join the Michigan Regional Comprehensive Metabolomics Resource Core (MRC2) for its third seminar of 2015. Expert Robert E. Gerszten, M.D., will present "Come on BAIBA light my fire: Mining the Blood for New Cardiometabolic Hormones."

Gerszten, a renown figure in metabolomics and proteomics, is the Director of Clinical and Translational Research for the MGH Heart Center, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Senior Associate Member of the Broad Institute. Dr. Gerszten graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and did his clinical and research training in Cardiology at MGH. Over the past decade, the Gerszten laboratory has built a collaborative program in translational research, integrating emerging metabolomic and proteomic approaches towards the identification of novel disease pathways and biomarkers. An area of particular focus is the application of these tools to identify those most likely to benefit from clinical interventions in cardiometabolic diseases. His highly interactive program collaborates across a spectrum of institutions, from the Broad Institute to the Framingham Heart Study and the TIMI Study Group.
